The security and intelligence center for the G20 Financial Summit began official operations at Seoul ASEM Tower on October 1.
“We’ll see to it that the G20 Summit, one of the biggest international meeting to be held in Korea, proceeds without a glitch with the help of our the highly advanced security system,” said Yoo Jeong-gwon, head of the planning and coordination team at the security center.
“We’ll be ready for any trouble caused by acts of terror or other large-scale disturbances, and minimize the potential problems.”
The center’s intelligence team plans to hold traffic simulations and other mock disturbances and training exercises to prepare for all eventualities. The security control group will then draft a comprehensive security plan based on the results.
The group will also prepare a separate liaison office to contact other G20 member nations’ security centers and establish a joint response system.
